Bike Walk Connecticut's Annual Dinner is a major fundraiser for Bike Walk CT (non-profit 501-c3 since 2006). The event is open to the public, and this year is the 14th Annual Dinner. It is a unique opportunity to experience an evening of presentations promoting encouragement, inspiration and celebration for Connecticut cyclists and pedestrians, plus a great opportunity for networking with people who are passionate about cycling and walking.
Our Keynote Speaker this year is bicycle advocate Willie Weir from Seattle Washington. He is a columnist for Adventure Cyclist magazine, a former bicycle correspondent for public radio station KUOW, and the author of two books, ‘Travels with Willie’ and ‘Spokesongs’. His bicycle adventures have taken him all over the globe -- from the horse tracks of the highlands of Lesotho, to the war-torn roads of Bosnia, to the back roads of Colombia.
We are also pleased to announce that Tom Maziarz, CT DOT Bureau Chief of Policy & Planning will be joining us as Guest Speaker. Tom is responsible for overseeing all of CT DOT's planning programs. These include the state strategic transportation plan, active transportation, Transit-Oriented Development, and environmental planning. He also played a key role in shaping many of the Department policies regarding Complete Streets, bicycle and pedestrian facilities and multi-use trail funding.
In addtion to a full dinner with cash bar, the evening will also include a presentation of 2019 'People's Choice Awards', plus our traditional silent auction of goods and services from businesses & individuals.
